Kinston Ready To Take Off

A regional airport in the East is getting help with a technological upgrade courtesy of federal funds.

Congressman GK Butterfield made the announcement Friday that around $500,000 dollars will be earmarked to aid with the 3.8 million dollar cost of enhancing Kinston Regional Jetport instrument landing system.

The system would be upgraded from a category two to a category three.

Experts say the upgrade will allow for almost any kind of aircraft to land on Kinston's runway in any type of weather.

And we have the 'honor' of being the poorest county. This GTP is a complete joke.

There is nothing Manufactured east of I-95 that justifies the cost of shipping by Airplane. To ship by plane would cost at minimum $100.000. Kinston has a decaying infrastructure, Kinston has no business support network to compete in the Global arena.

WITN...thank you for this news. Our paper does not print any news from our county. Can you give us an update on the missing senior citizen here in Lenoir County?

Kinston and the GTP have been ready to take off for 20 years now. Typical thinking here. keep throwing money down the well, it will eventually fill up. What a waste

First they made taxpayers buy license plates at an increased price to raise working capitol and every since the government hs been putting money in this black hole. When will this taxpayer support stop and the GTP stand on its own? What is the return on investment. No succesful business would keep putting money in a business that had no signs of paying it back. You (the govenment) knew it was wrong when you made taxpayers raise working capitol and not vote on a bond.
