Chocolate Labrador Fatally Shot

Jeff McLawhorn says his one-year-old chocolate Labrador "Choco" went missing last Tuesday. McLawhorn says he found the dog in the marshy area behind his house with a gunshot wound on Saturday.

An investigation is being conducted by the Greene County Animal Control, officials suspect a nearby deer hunter could be responsible.

McLawhorn says the death of Choco is like losing a family member.

McLawhorn does own two other Labradors, Duke and Luke, but he says he hopes justice will be done for Choco.

To John --- We cannot have children. We have chosen to spend our energy on our pets. They ride with us, sleep with us, watch TV with us, receive presents from us, and visit family with us. They are our children, and our families accept that. My spouse and I had private funeral when our lab died recently. We buried her in a remote section of our farm where she liked to go play. So don't tell me and other pet lovers that they are "just animals." To some people, they can be more special than other humans. At least they don't display a nasty attitude like some bloggers.

John, you too can be replaced. Hopefully if that happens, you'll be replaced with a more compassionate form of a human being.

John, please spout your vermin somewhere else. I lived in the country so my dogs could run free on my land. If they strayed into the woods, nobody came to complain. I certainly hope this was an accident. If not, shame on the scum who did this to this beautiful dog. May you never spend another peaceful day!
