Fire Sends Kinston Workers Home

It was a short work day for nearly 200 workers at a manufacturing facility in the east when a small fire cut their day short.

Officials with Kinston Neuse Corporation say a fire broke out early Friday morning in an air filter in a piece of machinery in the shipping and receiving area of the facility.

The fire happened around 10:00 a.m. and all 180 workers were evacuated and sent home for the day. Officials say the fire was under control in less than 30 minutes.

A spokesperson for Kinston Neuse Corporation, which manufactures crown lift trucks, says all 180 workers were accounted for and that no one was injured.

How come there is no story on the two firefighters that pulled a man from a burning apartment fire in Greenville on Wednesday?
