Previous Story:
Students at one high school are in mourning Monday after one of their classmates was killed this weekend in an ATV accident.

Ryan Kornegay died in the accident while riding the ATV Saturday behind his home on Gurganus Road outside of Snow Hill. The 17-year-old was a junior at Greene Central High School. Students there are now wearing black ribbons and have placed a makeshift memorial in his parking space.

Principal Susan Jones says they have counselors at the school helping students deal with the loss. Counselors are also at Greene County Middle School where Kornegay's brother is a student.

It seems like it was only yesterday, and at times forever Kevin's family and school friends were dealing with the same tragedy. As his mother I want Ryans friends to know that each and every thing you do or say in his memory will be such a great healing for his mother. I will never forget how Kevn's friend were still honoring him years later. I looked back and knew he was dearly loved. Share your memories with her. She will never get tired of hearing things she never knew. Write her letters.I felt the love and support from Greene County and our small county will continue to do so when something like this happens. Our prayers and support is so important at this time.

Ryan was an amazing young man, we went to school together and he was in my 2nd period class, its very hard on me not seeing his smiling face in his desk. We always had the best of times and he knew how to make my days so much better. Ryan always had the biggest smile on his face everyday. And he was so passionate about his truck that he let everyone know about. He is already being missed by so many and will continue to be. I will never forget all the good times we had together and the special bond that we had. Ryan had a connection with everyone that he met and you could tell his family raised him very well. Please pray for his family, especially his mother Deb and his little brother Russ. And to anyone that doesn't know Ryan, we aren't trying to make it a big deal or get media attention it was a tragic accident and this just shows how many people loved him and how great he really was, it was a true lesson learned by many. I love you so much we will meet again, Rest in Peace baby boy.

FIrst to FactDog, it says he "lived" on Gurgainus Road not that he was "riding" on Gurgainus Road. He was riding behind the home. God Bless Ryan's family and friends. Sometimes it is seems true that the good die young. Yes, do read his obituary and listen to his friends. There are no words to adequately describe this young man's life. If only everyone could have seen the video at the visitation last night and seen the flower arrangements that told so much about what he loved in life.

To the family and Friends of this young man, May God be with you in this time of need. I hope that you find strength to hold you together, and Anonymous you are right we should HUG our kids a little tighter and thank God they are still with us. We all take life for granted (our own or our loved ones) Everyone needs to remember that this was someones child, loved one, and family member!!!!
