UPDATED: No Charges In Kinston School Bus Shooting

Police have yet to charge anyone in connection with a school bus that was shot at Thursday afternoon.

The school bus was unloading children in Kinston when police say someone shot out the rear left window with a BB gun. No one was hurt in the shooting.

Police say it happened on East Street, between Shine & Bright streets, at around 3:30 P.M. Kinston Police say 14 students were on the bus, while another 7 students had gotten off at the bus stop when the shooting happened.

Superintendent Doctor Terry Cline says it was a bus from Rochelle Middle School. Cline says all policy was followed during the shooting.

Cline says the gunman may have been a student who was disciplined earlier in the day and sent home from school. Police are still investigating.

No one was hurt in the shooting that happened on East Street, between Shine & Bright streets, around 3:30 p.m.

Kinston police say 14 students were on the bus, while another 7 students had gotten off at the bus stop when the shooting happened.

Superintendent Dr. Terry Cline says it was bus number 297 from Rochelle Middle School.

Cline says what is believe to be a BB gun bullet hit the rear left window of the bus. He said the window did not shatter, but that the glass did "spider web" with a small hole in it.

The superintendent says the gunman may have been a student who was disciplined earlier in the day and sent home from school.

Police say they are still investigating the shooting. The remaining students were put on another bus for their trip home.
