Police Release Name, Age Of Teen Killed In Accidental Shooting

A tragedy under investigation in Kinston, where say a 19-year-old is dead after an accident with a gun.

The Kinston Department of Public Safety says Kevin Cox was found with a single gunshot wound to the head. It happened at 707 Candlewood Rd. in Kinston, where lawmen say the teen was visiting a friend.

Witnesses told police, Cox had been handling a 38-caliber revolver and accidentally shot himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police originally reported the victim was 17. The latest press release lists the victim as 19 years old.

    For the person who asked where are the parente,his dad lived in NYC,and was was willing to move his son there but the familyin NC threathend him with the law is f he tried to take him from NC.He had a mom who lived in the same place and had not seem him for two years.He was loved buy all but was used in a power struggle now he is gone and no one has him.we will always love you Lil Kev.On the head of his grandmother and aunt is this burden.As they kept him away becayuse they did not want him discipline by his father.

    Kevin COx was my older brother, and i love him he had all respect so have respect for him he was not 17 he was 19 and i am 15 so we are still ooking into the case right now i love you BRazy--Camielle Ham

    Whats is going on in kinston this same thing happened in 2005 to one of my realtives i pray for his family because i am stil grieving for my lost one (R.I.P) DD.

    My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.Winter comes goes the leaves are slowly falling,Kevin heard,heard the voice of jesus calling.He said come with me my child and I will take away the pain.To the Cox family you dont have to cry no more..because your son,grandson,cousin,brother and friend is with the LORD!!!     This gun wasn't an automatic. It takes work to pull the trigger on a revolver. Didn't he know it was loaded? It's not hard to look and see. Come on.
