Former Deputy Sheriff Arrested For Assault

A former deputy sheriff is out of jail after his arrest Wednesday for assaulting his wife.

George Bryan III resigned as a Lenoir County deputy the same day his wife reported that two weeks earlier he hit her. Jamie Bryan told deputies she fractured her jaw.

After a criminal investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation, Bryan was charged with assault inflicting serious injury.

Bryan, who started with the sheriff's office in 2004, was placed in jail overnight and posted a $500 bond Thursday morning.

The sheriff's office says within 30 minutes of the first complaint they began an internal investigation. "It's a sad day anytime one of our own is charged with a criminal offense. With that being said the public expects us to do our job regardless of the adverse situation," said Major Christopher Hill.

So you're saying if she provoked him she deserved to have her jaw fractured. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

I don't know the whole story either. but I know that no one has the right to beat on another person be it man, woman or child. he had to have hit her very hard to break her jaw and put her in the hospital. what is so special about a bottle of mt. dew that would provoke such an attack.

First let me start by saying COPS are human too, they argue with their spouse just like evryone else does, things happen in the heat of the moment, and in this case costed a good deputy his job "and should have" but everyone thinks that law enforcement are suppose to be perfect well they are not and aren't suppose to be, because they are human!! I think there is more to the story than what has been told because why would she wait 21 days before telling what happened, maybe she realized the marriage was over and she wanted him to pay for what he had done, noone will ever know

My 2 cents - I am a white alpha female but if a woman slaps her husband or otherwise physically attacks him, I would not expect him to stand there and take it. We don't have all the information. Has he ever done something like this before? I'm not taking his side or her's but we just don't all the facts. Maybe she did something to provoke this? No matter what some of us think, men are human too. Ok, folks, let me have it. I know it's coming.
