NEW INFO: Car of Missing Men Found, Two Bodies Inside

There's been a break in the case of two missing brothers from Greene County.

Sheriff Lemmie Smith says a burned out vehicle with two bodies inside was found behind an old hog farm operation in Walstonburg around 2:00pm Thursday afternoon.

Smith tells us the bodies inside were burned beyond recognition. It is believed the bodies are those of James and Antwan Cox.

The sheriff tells WITN News that they obtained cell phone records for the men and discovered the last call was made from a tower in Walstonburg.

Smith says authorities then began searching that area. The sheriff says he was driving down Knox School Road and noticed an unlocked gate leading back to the old hog farm.

Smith says the car was badly burned, only its rims and frame were left. The bodies have been send to Pitt County Memorial Hospital for an autopsy. They hope to identify the men through DNA provided by the family.

The Cox family says the men were on their way to pick up some tires in Falkland last Wednesday but never made it back home.

Earlier this week the SBI joined the investigation to find them.
