Park To Be Renamed In Honor Of Fallen Officer

A park here in the east will soon bear the name of a fallen officer.

Neuseway Park in Kinston will be renamed "Pearson Park" after Lenoir County detective Allen Pearson. Pearson was shot and killed on April 8th in the line of duty.

Pearson's father and longtime deputy with Lenoir County worked closely with parks and recreation. Officials there say it just feels right to honor Allen this way.

The renaming will take place in a ceremony on August 13th .

While I respect law enforcement, it is not a job i have a desire to do, it's not my calling. However, neither is Welfare...I work hard for my money. I teach school, so please...get over yourself.

It's me. I'm "Annoymous". Seriously, all these people who post as "Annoymous" are just trying to stir up the pot. Apparently, it's working. Just let it go, people.

Anonymous...i pray you never go through what this family has endured. Risks, yes they know them. But if you are so bent on making a point, go join the LCSO, go do what they do for just one day. Hero, yes. So if you are so concerned about getting your point across, take time to come out from behind your cowardly "ANONYMOUS" post and let everyone know who you are...then maybe you'd have some clout.

I am so disturbed by the comments of Anonymous. If you truly believe these awful things you are writing here and truly believe in freedom of speech, then why are you posting as "Anonymous" and where do you live? Do you even live in Lenoir County or are you just some person with no respect? Your cowardness is showing. Be a man or woman for that point and put a name with your comment. I personally do/did not know the Pearsons but am truly thankful for him and his family and for his dedication to serve this community. This community is a better place because of him. I appreciate all our local heros from police to fire to the everyday passer who stops to lend a hand to someone in need. The world is spinning out of control and negativity of this kind is ridiculous. Come on folks, this is a good thing and while we all have freedom of speech, lets limit our word vomit on this article. Like asked by others, what if this happened to your family or a close friend? Remember we reap what we sow.
