An ongoing investigation into an assault at a Greenville sports bar has led to an arrest.

A grand jury has indicted 37 year old Earl Van Mumford the second with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and assault inflicting serious bodily injury, following the March incident at Tie Breakers.

25 year old Christopher Meadows of Ayden was injured in the assault.

Police reports say witnesses saw Mumford hit Meadows with his fist and a beer bottle.

Those same reports also say Mumford said those actions were the result of Meadows grabbing his wife's buttocks.

Other witnesses said Meadows did not do that.

I know Mr Mumford and he is the kind of guy who would hit someone for no reason. j fisher, your buddy isn't that stout. He caused massive bleeding and injury. Your silly blather about 2X4s is senseless drivel and is either your way of muddying the water or hero worship on your part.

BL-Winterville.. Obviously you don't realize if Mr. Mumford hit this man with a bottle he wouldnt make it to court. I've known Mr. Mumford for awhile and he's not a big guy but a strong guy who will stand up for himself and his family. If he hit that guy with a bottle he would have severe brain damage if not he'd more than likely be dead. I've put a beer bottle a inch to a inch and 1/2 deep into a 2 x 4 which would have been instant death for a human. And he's not a weak man. Plus these reports say he did it several times. Come on!

Sharon: You obviously were not there, and have not talked with credible witnesses. The truth has been told. The doctors and hospital reports validate any questions one may have regarding Chris'injuries, and how they occured. Only a "COWARD" would attack someone from behind with a DEADLY WEAPON. Yes, a bottle becomes a weapon when it is used to cause serious injury or death. IF....there had been a scuffle, any person with one inckling of common sense, would address the situation head-on. May it be known, the courts will make sure Mr.Mumford will be held accountable for his malicious actions.

Ive known Mr. Mumford for 14 years. He is a good man and a wonderful father. I think he did what most men would have done. I would want my man to stand up for me.
