Storms Knock Out Power

Storms that moved through parts of Eastern Carolina overnight put some people in the dark.

Kinston Public Works reports that several homes lost power in the Carey Rd. area of Kinston. The power went out around 9 p.m. Wednesday, according to a person at Kinston Public Works.

At 6:20 a.m. Thursday, a worker at Public Works said there were no active power outages in Kinston.

Progress Energy Carolinas also reported a few power outages early Thursday. There were 26 customers without power near Highway 13 and Green Acres Rd. in Greene County, but the power has been restored.

There were a handful of damage reports from the storms. A few trees were reported down in Beaulaville, Kenansville and Warsaw in Duplin County. The National Weather Service also reported a tree down in Nash County following a storm there.
