Putting Stimulus Money To Work

Part of the state's 8-billion dollars in federal stimulus funds will soon be put to work as construction of the Highway 258 and 70 corridor project in Lenoir County starts in June.

According to the state, 60 million dollars in the next three years will bring many jobs to the area. But there's more money being released to help other agencies.

Dempsey Benton with North Carolina's Office of Economic Recovery and Investment spoke to business leaders Tuesday afternoon in Greenville. He says there are millions coming to eastern Carolina to not only create jobs, but support education, infrastructure and public housing improvements.

Benton says agencies can also apply for grant money from the federal funds, that process will be announced at a later time.
