Electrolux Expanding In Kinston

A major economic announcement in one eastern Carolina city Thursday as a company plans to expand.

Officials at kitchen appliance maker Electrolux say the they plan to invest more than 50 million dollars in the company's Lenoir County plant.

The investment means workers at the facility off highway 70 in Kinston will produce a new dishware line. Officials plan to pump out more than 500 units a day.

Kevin Dexter of Electrolux North America says, "What we'd look to do over time, I don't have a specific number and of course I'm balancing part of that with what's going on with the economy, but we see as this thing starts to come out of it we will be creating jobs."

Electrolux picked Kinston for the investment over China and Mexico where the company also has plants.

We need to remember this when it's time to shop. If in the market for their product, support the company by buying "made in NC".

At least they know they will have a job in the near future. That is great that they can do this. I hope it creates more jobs too, maybe by doing this it will allow for the company to stay alfloat for a long long time.
