A rally is planned Monday night in Kinston to coincide with a public hearing on the City Council's forced annexation of three communities.
The city wants to annex Briarwood Terrace, Crestview and Hickory Hills into Kinston limits.
The rally will begin at 6 p.m. in the vacant lot across from City Hall.
The City Council public hearing will begin at 7 p.m.
About 1200 people live in the affected communities.
Jason Noble, a Lenoir County native, organized the rally, though he is not directly impacted by the annexation. Noble is a 28-year-old logger with a forest management education and real estate experience. He was heavily involved with the recent tea parties and is committed to grassroots, non-partisan efforts to stop abuse of government and support the message of freedom and liberty.
Noble said one of the speakers expected for the rally is a former state senator, Stephen LaRoque. When asked about expected attendance, Noble said there could possibly be anywhere from 100 people to 600 people attending.
