The Kinston jetport is a staging area for federal airplanes to help battle the blaze in North Myrtle Beach.
The North Carolina Forestry stationed in Kinston helps support 27 different coastal counties from Virginia to South Carolina.
The P3 federal tanker airplane is taking over 2,500 gallons of fire retardant at a time to help fight the wildfires.
The air-tanker takes about an hour round trip to make it's drop in South Carolina and will make eight to ten drops a day.
The North Carolina Forestry advises people in eastern North Carolina to be careful of the recent dry weather so a wildfire doesn't happen in our area.
