150 Kids Participate In Junior Livestock Competition

Monday was the day hundreds of kids got to put all their hard work on display during the Coastal Plains Junior Livestock competition.

One-hundred and fifty kids from ten different counties in eastern Carolina brought their prized animals to the Lenoir County Livestock arena for a day of shows Monday.

While organizers say everybody wants to be the grand champion, the competition teaches them about responsibility and gets them outside. Miriam lewis, event organizer says, "It lets them work with agriculture and build confidence and a good opportunity for them to appreciate how much it takes to be a part of agriculture."

The show is a two day event continuing Tuesday when the animals will actually be sold.
