Saturday was a surprising morning for people driving along Highway 70 near Kinston. That's where the Lenoir County Sheriff's Department says it arrested a naked man walking down the highway, claiming someone put a voodoo hex on him and that he was burning.
Clerks at the Falling Creek Produce Stand along Highway 70 say a car pulled into the turning lane across from their business.
They say the woman driving the car and the man inside started arguing, and that's when the man jumped out and took off all of his clothes.
Clerks say they confronted him, and say he pounded his chest and said "I am the law!".
They say at that point, he ran back to the car and started chasing the woman around, trying to get her keys.
The clerks say that's when an unknown person showed up and maced him.
They say he started walking down Highway 70 naked, when deputies arrived.
The Lenoir County Sheriff's Department says they arrested 25-year-old Lawrence Arnold, who told deputies the woman had put a voodoo hex on him and that he was burning.
Deputies say the woman told them he'd taken angel dust, a heavy narcotic, which is why he probably thought she'd hexed him.
They say he was burning from the mace.
Deputies say Arnold has been charged with misdemeanor indecent exposure, and also faces probation violation charges in Onlslow County and an aggravated assault on an officer charge in Connecticut.
