Four Charged In Elderly Woman's Robbery

Four people are in jail after police say they robbed an elderly woman last week who refused to hand over her purse.

Rashad Perry, Rasheem Thomas, and Steven Keel are facing charges of armed robbery and conspiracy, while Latoya Keel is charged with accessory after the fact to robbery.

Kinston police say Dorothy Carroll was robbed in the driveway of her West Highland Avenue home. Police say a gunman asked for the woman's purse and the 82-year-old refused. He then forcibly took the purse from her.

The robber was seen getting into a car with other men inside. Perry, Thomas and Latoya Keel were arrested by Kinston police on Monday while Steven Keel was already in the Granville County jail on an unrelated charge.

The victim was not hurt in the robbery.

Let's keep sweeping the problem under the rug, pretend it doesn't exist. Good for this woman. She was very brave and she could have gotten killed, because i'm sure one of them was carrying a weapon of some sort. Good for her though to protect what is her own. My only wish is that she had packed heat and used it to protect what was rightfully hers. That would have made quite a story.
