The Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office released a new mug shot of woman captured just 7 hours after she escaped from prison after they say she returned to her mother's home in Onslow County.
30-year-old Misty Gardner escaped from Fountain Prison in Edgecombe County about 9:00 a.m. Monday and was back in custody by the afternoon. She was arrested without incident at her mother's home.
Gardner was serving a 2 year sentence for driving while intoxicated in Onslow County.
The Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office says there is no information indicating Gardner's mother had any involvement in the escape. She was not home when Gardner was taken into custody.
Authorities say a woman who escaped from prison this morning was captured Monday afternoon.

Department of Public Safety officials say the woman is believed to have scaled a fence sometime after 6:30 a.m. at the Fountain Correctional Center for Women.
Authorities say shortly before 4:00 p.m. Gardner was captured in Onslow County by sheriff's deputies.
Fountain, which is in Rocky Mount, is a minimum security prison for about 500 inmates.
