Deputies say two men are accused of stealing copper ground wire from electric power poles some 21 times.
Danny Denton and Douglas Wood, Jr., both from Bailey, are charged with 47 counts of felony injury to wire, 28 counts of felony larceny, 28 counts of felony possession of stolen property and other misdemeanor counts.
Nash County deputies say between March 21st and May 17th they received 21 cases of someone cutting the ground wire from Progress Energy utility poles.
Last Tuesday they got a anonymous tip that two men had a load of copper wire in the back of a pickup truck. Deputies stopped that vehicle on Macedonia Road and the two men detained.
Most of the thefts happened in the Bailey, Middlesex and Spring Hope areas.
Denton's bond was set at $100,000, while Wood's bond was $250,000.
