The Highway Patrol says that a moped rider is dead following a wreck with a truck.
Officials say that it happened Saturday afternoon on Highway 258 around 2.8 miles east of Pinetops in Edgecombe County.
According to troopers, 56-year-old Bruce Lewis, the rider of the moped, was about to turn into the driveway of his home when he was struck from behind by a truck. Officials say that the driver of the truck, 69-year-old Robert Wells of Tarboro, wasn’t paying attention and failed to reduce speed resulting in the wreck.
