Traffic has returned to normal after a tractor trailer fire Friday morning closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 95.
The Highway Patrol says the big rig was full of food and there was not a crash that led to the tractor trailer fire.
The fire happened north of Rocky Mount near the Gold Rock exit, and kept the southbound lanes shutdown for several hours.
There is no word yet on how the fire started.
A tractor trailer fire has closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 outside of Rocky Mount.
The D.O.T. says traffic is being detoured at the Gold Rock Exit, which is north of Rocky Mount.
Travelers should get off at that exit and head south on Highway 4. They should then take a right onto U.S. 301 South, turn right onto U.S. 64 West and then get back on I-95.
They expect lanes to be reopened later this morning.
