A boil water advisory has been lifted for the town of Tarboro.
Town officials say testing has confirmed that Tarboro's water supply meets all requirements of safe drinking standards.
The boil water advisory was put into effect after rains from Hurricane Irene possibly contaminated the water. Since, Tarboro has been able to treat water from the Tar River.
Officials say people should let their water run for a while before using to insure that your plumping has cleared any residual water. Some people may see some minor discoloration of their water as the system is completely cleared out.
