Will Critzer bought the winning ticker at the P.K. Mart on Raleigh Road in Wilson.
"I was having a good morning," Critzer said shortly afterward at N.C. Education Lottery headquarters in Raleigh. "And I remembered I had bought that ticket and I went and scratched it. There it was. A good morning got better."
The Sims man is the second person in North Carolina to win the top prize in the $4,000,000 Gold Bullion Game. He chose the cash option of $2.4 million and after taxes he walked away with a $1.6 million check.
The father of two said he knew exactly what he will do with his winnings. "I've got two kids to pay for college and retirement," said Critzer.
