NASH COUNTY: Thousands Remain Without Power

8:30 am - Here's an update from Nash County. Emergency management there says there was one death---the man who walked outside Saturday during the storm and was struck by a tree limb. Seventy people are at the shelter at Nash Central High School, and another 119 are at a a shelter at a local church.

Brent Fisher, deputy director of Emergency Management says an estimated 14,500 customers are without power in Nash County.

Currently there is not a curfew in Nash County.

NASHVILLE, NASH COUNTY -- Emergency officials in Nash County said a man was crushed to death outside his home by a large limb blown down during high winds from Hurricane Irene.

Nash County Emergency Management Director Brian Brantley said the man was walking outside his home in a rural area of the county around 10:20 a.m. Saturday when the limb struck him.

Paramedics were called to the scene, but the man was already dead.

Brantley says more details, including the man's name and age, will be released later.
