Man Critically Burned After Hot Grease Attack

A man is in critical condition at the burn center in Chapel Hill after police say someone threw a pot of hot grease on him.

Rakem Kato suffered facial and bodily injuries in the attack which happened at a home on Hammond Street in Rocky Mount Tuesday night. Police say the 25-year-old is in stable, but critical condition.

Police have charged Okeefe Bunn with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. They say he ran from the scene but was arrested this morning.

Investigators say two women were also injured by the hot grease. Sharon Warren and Arielle Warren were both treated and released from Nash General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police did not say what a possible motive was in the attack.

Burns are bad no matter what kind they are. My heart goes out to the burn victim. He will have a lot of surgeries/skin graffs. They are very painful. Okeefe should have the same thing done to him as he did to the victim.

Prayers for the victims. That about all I can say. Because I can't say anything good about the person that did this. So I will keep my comments to myself.

That is very cowardly way to injure somebody. I thought it was domestic, and a woman was protecting herself from abusive hubby. But a MAN burning another MAN and 2 women spells COWARD!

My prayers are with the victims, especially the severely injured. That, to be burned, is probably the most painful of all injuries. May God ease your pain.

Somebody has been watching too much Madea. However, instead of hot grits, he used hot grease. (shaking my head)

To think someone as ignorant as yourself would make a joke about this situation... (shaking my head)

Calling someone ignorant is not name calling! It is describing their behavior. And yes someone making a joke about someone being seriously injured is ignorant!
