Man Admits To Kidnapping Estranged Wife, Child At Gunpoint

A Tarboro man will spend the next 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to kidnapping his estranged wife and their young son at gunpoint.

Timothy Sutton made the guilty plea this week in Nash County and was sentenced to 20-25 years.

Sutton was arrested in May of last year after Kill Devil Hills police alerted Rocky Mount police that the 34-year-old woman and her two-year-old son were kidnapped from their Rocky Mount home. Sutton was accused of breaking into the home through a window. Once in Dare County the woman was able to escape and alert police.

The victim is my best friend and she had a restraining order against him after he showed his true colors. He is a monster and she is on of the strongest people I know. She is a hero in my eyes. She did everything in her power to keep her son safe and saved her and her sons life by being patient and waiting for her only safe chance to escape. I only wish he had gotten life.

Sounds like that woman should have done a background check on Timothy Sutton. She might have avoided all this trouble.
