Lawmen are successfully shutting down a business they say is a public nuisance.
A Superior Court judge on Tuesday signed a consent judgment against the Ash Street Recreation Center, a business licensed to serve alcohol in Spring Hope, Nash County.
The owner, Ryial Mills, has to close by June 9th and the order says the property can never be used as a nuisance, regardless of who owns it.
Authorities say the business had a history of criminal problems, including a fatal shooting, drug violations, fights, assaults and robberies.
“Nash County law enforcement officers have responded to calls and complaints from this place for a number of years,” said District Attorney Robert Evans. “This property is clearly a nuisance, and working together, we are providing a permanent solution for the community. Today’s judgment is in the best interest of the public and we appreciate the cooperation of Mr. Mills in bringing this action to a close.”
