The Wayne County Sheriff's Office found more than they bargained for when a man's vehicle ran out of gas last week.
Goldsboro Police say a Wayne County Deputy who stopped to offer help found a large amount of steel in the back of the man's vehicle.
Brandon Randolph was originally charged with felonious larceny and jailed on a $5,000 bond.
Police say he took twenty railroad angle bars, eight railroad pie plates and a bag of railroad clips, all belonging to Norfolk Southern Railroad.
Investigators say they discovered the next day that Randolph had stolen nearly 21,000 pounds of steel from the railroad during the past month.
An additional 61 charges were brought against the 29-year-old man and his bond was hiked by $225,000.
