Students at one Eastern Carolina school are out of their classrooms, thanks to likely frozen pipes in the sprinkler system.
The water pipes burst late Wednesday morning in two classrooms at North East Carolina Prep School in Tarboro.
Fortunately, the 2nd and 3rd graders were at lunch when the ceilings fell.
Taro Knight, director of community relations and operations, says sprinkler heads likely came apart after freezing because of the cold weather.
Knight says they are meeting with an insurance adjuster today to get work started. Students in the two classrooms have been moved into other rooms. They will likely be out of those classrooms for several days while new ceilings are installed.
