FAMILY AFFAIR: Father, Son Charged In Pot Growing Operations

A father and his son have been charged with growing marijuana at their two homes, one which is across the street from an elementary school.

Nash County deputies say today they searched a home on red Oak Road in Nashville where they found an indoor marijuana growing operation. They discovered eight marijuana plants, two to three feet high, growing in a utility room. They were set up with a watering system, lights and ventilation. Also seized were some 3-1/2 pounds of pot and 15 firearms.

Paul Brantley, Jr. was charged with possession with the intent to sale and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, manufacture marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping/storing a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Investigators learned that Brantley's son may also have an indoor grow operation. They searched Timothy Brantley's home on Curtis Street in Rocky Mount, which is across from Williford Elementary School. Inside deputies confiscated 42 pot plants, a gun and materials to grow marijuana.

The son was charged with manufacture marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for the keeping and storage of marijuana, possession with the intent to sale and deliver marijuana, manufacture a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both father and son have court dates on Tuesday.
