It is now okay to drink the water from one county water system without having to boil it first.
Edgecombe County Water and Sewer System customers had been under a boil water advisory for more than a week.
The county says tests back today show the water is safe to drink.
An entire water system is under a boil water advisory after tests came back for total coliform.
The Edgecombe County Water and Sewer System says the tests indicate that bacteria may be present in the water. It impacts some 4,500 customers who get their water from the county. Those on city water in Rocky Mount and Tarboro are not affected.
The county says its working to resolve the possible contamination. In the meantime, customers should use bottled water, or boil any water that is used for human consumption.
