Edgecombe County officials say they have found the body of a teen who slipped into the Tar River and drowned Friday night.
According to officials they received a call around 6:30 p.m. Friday that 19-year-old Kevin Jaimes was at a picnic with his family at Shiloh Landing when he slipped into the river. They say Jaimes went under and family members were not able to locate him.
Crews were then called in to search for the teen. They used sonar equipment, dogs, and a helicopter. Then around 9:40 a.m. Sunday crews found the body.
