The manhunt continues after a bank employee was assaulted and a man was shot this morning as the robber was making his getaway.
The bank robbery happened around 9:15 a.m. at the First South Bank located inside Smith's Red and White in Dortches. Nash County deputies say he got away with an undisclosed amount of money.
WITN has obtained video from inside the store showing the gunman walking up to the bank with what appears to be a long rifle, he jumped over the counter, while an employee tries to leave. The gunman comes out of the branch and is seen striking that woman several times with what appears to be the end of the gun. People in the store are seen getting on the floor during the holdup.

Deputies say the gunman then left the store on foot towards Griffins Food Mart where he shot a man in a parked vehicle. Uriel Guillen of Rocky Mount was able to get away, got on I-95 to the next exit where he summoned help. The 23-year-old victim is in stable condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
The bank robber was last seen getting into a red Ford Explorer on Highway 43 north. He is described as a man, 6'2" tall, with long dreadlocks. The robber was wearing a camouflaged cap, camouflaged bandanna, green camouflaged jacket, light gloves, Navy pants, and tennis shoes. Deputies at this time don't know the race of the gunman.
Deputies consider the gunman armed and dangerous.
Nash County authorities are searching for a bank robber who also shot someone in his getaway.
Deputies say the First South Bank branch inside the Smith's Red & White Grocery in Dortches was robbed shortly around 9:15 a.m. The gunman fired shots outside the business.
WRAL says witnesses reported the gunman tried to commandeer a nearby vehicle and shot the driver before getting away. The station says the shooting victim was able to drive to a Shoney's in Gold Rock for help.
