Police say the search is on for a missing woman who was last seen on January 8.

The mother of 25 year-old Ashley Balance of Rocky Mount reported her missing on Sunday.

Balance was last seen with friend Ali Marzouq on Friday. Marzouq told police both he and Ashley went to the Kangaroo Express Store at 3601 Sunset Avenue. Ali stated he went inside while Ashley remained outside in the vehicle, which belongs to Ali's sister. Ali stated when he left the store, Ashley and the vehicle were gone.

The vehicle is described as a four door white 1989 Chevrolet Cavalier with the NC Registration: ZNA-5913

Authorities say Ashley has an "Ashley" tattoo on her left arm, a "JAH" tattoo on her right arm, and a "Spade" tattoo on her left leg.

Although I know you will not print this, Your headline says 'Found" - but the story indicates she simply came home. "Turning her life around" - I don't think so.

I have worked in Rocky Mt. for 23 years. And I have seen a lot of things that probably not many people have. Its a jungle. Just be aware of your surroundings. And avoid areas of known trouble. Simple rule of survival.

Yes Rocky Mount does have a police force, but their hands are tied by Chief Manley, Knight, and the rest of his cronies....thats why the town has gone downhill.
