While the thunder and lightning may have kept some of us awake, others were in the dark before dawn. Power suppliers told WITN the most likely cause was Mother Nature.

Duke Power reported 806 people were without electricity earlier in Onslow County.

According to the outage maps, Duke showed 700 customers without power along Highway 17 between Maysville and Pumpkin Center at 5:42 a.m. Tuesday. Lights were expected back on by 8:15 a.m.

An addition 9 customers off Belgrade Swansboro Road were also knocked off the grid.

Nearly 100 were without power in Richlands by 5:33 Tuesday morning with an expected restoration time set for 7:30 a.m.

The spokeswoman told WITN they had 716 customers in Williamston without electricity for about an hour, starting at 11:44 p.m. Monday when a recloser on Lovers Lane failed, possibly due to previous lightning damage. Everyone in Williamston was back on by a 12:46 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Tideland EMC listed 101 people out in Pamlico County, just off of Ball Creek earlier Tuesday morning.

Jones-Onslow EMC reported about 46 people without power near Beulaville around 4:45 am, with lights back on before 6:30 a.m.

Duke reported a handful of small outages in Lenoir and Wayne counties, the largest just west of Seven Springs with 54 people out of power. Those outages have also been restored.
