A teenager is dead after police say gunmen, claiming to be police officers, robbed a group of people in Rocky Mount around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night.
Dead is 17-year-old Jermaine Lynch of Travis Run, a student at Northern Nash High School.
Police say four to six masked men, all wearing black clothing got out of an SUV and claimed to be police officers. The group pointed handguns, shotguns and rifles at several victims who were outside playing cards at a trailer at 2104 Travis Run .
One of the men, who was 45-50 years old and had a thin build, was not wearing a mask and had a grayish thin beard. Witnesses told police all the gunman were black.
Witnesses say the armed men ordered everyone to get on the ground and then robbed the people both inside and outside of the trailer.
Police say the murder victim saw the robbery and started running from the scene when he was shot in the shoulder/chest area.
A K-9 led investigators to a ditch on Brandon Lane were several of the robbery items were found.
So far police have made no arrests.
