POLICE: Store Employee Staged Robbery

A store clerk is under arrest after police say she staged a robbery outside a bank Wednesday afternoon.

Teresa Honeycutt is charged with larceny by employee and filing a false police report.

Rocky Mouny police say Honeycutt told them two men pushed her down outside the Wachovia Bank on Sunset Avenue and stole a bank deposit bag with $6,000 inside. She was making a deposit for a Kangaroo convenience store.

Her bond was set at $3500.

Previous Story

A convenience store employee was robbed Wednesday afternoon as she was about to make a bank deposit.

It happened outside of the Wachovia Bank on Sunset Avenue in Rocky Mount around 2:50 p.m.

Police say two men approached the Kangaroo employee from behind, push her to the ground and then stole the bank bag from her purse. Inside was $6,000.

Several officers were nearby when the call came in, but they were unable to locate the robbers. The employee was not able to provide police with any description of the robbers or how they got away.

    Robert, Rocky Mount's crime rate has actually GONE DOWN in the past two years, according to state stats. I think Rocky Mount just does a better job at reporting its crime to the media, than let's say Greenville. Lot of stuff that happens in Greenville goes unreported because they don't want us to know.
