The combination of high temperatures approaching 100 degrees and high humidity will bring heat indexes around 105 degrees.
Under the advisory until 8:00 p.m. are Camden,Chowan, Currituck, Edgecombe, Gates, Halifax, Hertford, Nash, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Wayne, and Wilson counties.
A heat index of 105 degrees is considered the level where many people begin to experience physical stress, even with limited activity. Anyone planning outdoor activities should take precautions to lessen the effects of the heat.
