Two Officers Hurt In DWI Crash

Two police officers on patrol became victims in a DWI accident.

According to reports, it happened Wednesday night, as Rocky Mount Police Officers Shane Taylor and Jill Gilbert were traveling on Woodruff Drive.

Investigators say another vehicle drove through the intersection of Hunter Hill Road and Woodruff Drive and struck the patrol car.

That driver, 42-year-old Mark Allen Pickering, was charged with DWI and for running a red light.

Everyone had minor injuries.

Glad everyone escaped any serious injuries! On a side note, the driver will now get another chance to get behind the wheel! Obviously someone smarter than me thinks that these people will change! It is not like the laws do anything to protect our families on the road. I wonder what would happen if this had of been one of those legislators family members?
