Police: Lock Your Doors

The Rocky Mount Police Department is urging citizens to make sure your doors and windows are locked on homes and cars. The department says that crime reports are showing a trend of suspects coming into homes and cars through unlocked doors and windows.

Officers also remind you to keep any valuables out of view to others, especially in cars.

The Rocky Mount Police Department has several ideas on how to prevent crime. Check out their website.

Since when did a lock deter a thief? Get real. I have had windows broken to get in the car and then they have access to the trunk button and rifle the trunk too. Same with the house. Broken windows/smashed doors. I have two well trained dogs now. A Doberman and a German Shepherd. Both are quiet. They will let you get in but won't let you out in one piece. Sort of fitting isn't it - you bust in and get busted up getting out.

To Loves Coldplay, I will shoot'em. Any criminal wants to come and see. Any criminal is invited to come to my house to prove Loves Coldplay's point.

I agree 100% with all the bloggers, keep your doors and cars locked, I definetly do! I don't live in a bad area, but you apparently don't have to these days! Adios!

Not to offend anyone, but, most people that say " If anyone comes into my home I'll shoot em", is blowing smoke. Most people who has never been in a dangerous situation will freeze in the time of need because you have not trained your mind but instead just talked all big. But there are ways to help prevent your home from being a victim of burglary, just call your local police station for tips.

Also .. it has not been reported yet but there have been at least 4 different neighborhoods that have had cars broken into in the last 2 months around Pitt county. Countryside Estates, some neighborhood near lowes, I think lyndale and I think one in winterville are what I have heard about. Its almost like the thieves are hitting an area then going to another part of town 2 weeks later.

Wilma **** you would be surprised last year around this time a good friend of mine was in the habit of leaving house doors unlocked. He had 7 dogs (small toy breeds and a chow mix(still a smallish dog) so he feels that his dogs will deter any one from walking in. Some people simply dont think that anyone will walk into there home. I have heard stories ... like another good friend told me that an old neighbor of his was working in there backyard and the front door was open to ther house and the glass storm door unlocked. Well then came in about 3 hrs later to find that someone had come in the front door (while they were working in the back yard) and taken some items.

Lock your doors, and don't forget to load up your 12 gauge before going to bed!
