High School Placed On Lockdown After Person Wearing Mask Spotted

An Eastern Carolina high school was placed on lockdown today after an employee spotted someone in dark clothing and wearing a white mask enter the school and walk into a classroom.

It turned out to be a student that had medical bandages on her face because of a recent traffic accident.

It happened Tuesday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. at Rocky Mount High School. Police were notified and the entire school was placed on lockdown as the school was searched.

Police say it was all a misunderstanding and there was no threat to students or employees at the school at any time. Officers were at the high school for about an hour.

CD, if weapons are visible then it is usually time to duck and cover. As for this case: I would like to know who has authority to lock down the school and if that person was aware of a heavily bandaged student being in the building. With a 14 year old shooting at a teacher and then shooting himself just a few days ago, I can't really fault anyone for being overly cautious.

WOW that is a scary sight right there, especially knowing what goes on in schools these days. To "Ben and "To Ben", you both forgot cafeteria worker, principal, assistant principal, counselor, school nurse, and probably some more. To Will, this is only the beginning my friend. To Anonymous, so is it a teacher like you said, or is it a student like WITN said?

Let my tax dollars pay for checking out a possible threat on the lives of children and school employees instead of paying to write tickets for smoking in a bar.

No, it was a teacher. And it wasn't being careful, it was being ignorant.

Mmm, mask with no weapon visibly seen and they locked the school down. That is just plain dumb.

I am glad people are their who pay attention and notice who or what steps in the schools. I bet you folks who say its to paranoid are the first to be fired when something does happen that someone misses. Come on folks you can't have it both ways! I am glad people are looking out for the kids.

Person says nothing the news story would be horrific due to injuries or death. First question is, Why didn't anybody say anything? Come on people! Although it was a false alarm at least someone is paying attention. The last three years have been the worst for our nation's schools lets be a little bit grateful that people are stepping up and trying to make sure these things don't happen again.

I wouldn't call being cautious in today's time dumb.
