Man Shot After Home Invasion

A man was shot after a home invasion Sunday night in Rocky Mount.

It happened on East Ridge Street Sunday night around 9:30 p.m.

Darvin Richardson told police two men forced their way into his home and demanded money. Richardson told them he didn't have any money and then a struggle developed over the gun.

Richardson was shot in the arm and was taken to Nash General Hospital. Police say they're still looking for the two robbers.

Did the homeowner have the gun or the punks that broke in? If it were the homeowner's gun this should be a lesson in "shoot first, ask questions later".

I agree, I was all excited thinking I was going to read about the homeowner shooting the invader!

This title was a little evasive. A better title may have been "Homeowner Shot after Home Invasion". I thought I was going to read a story about a robber who was shot. Just a suggestion. :-)
