Dare County Leads State With Highest Unemployment Rate

Dare County topped the list with the county having the highest unemployment rate in North Carolina. Dare has 17.3% of its workforce without jobs.

January county employment figures came out Thursday for the state.

Edgecombe County, which in December led the state, dropped to fourth highest with a 15.6% unemployment rate.

Many other counties in Eastern Carolina now have double digital unemployment numbers.
