Area Principal Goes Above And Beyond

While we ride out these tough economic times, there are some out there who have been struggling their whole lives.

That's the case for children in one Nash County community in the east.

Williford Elementary Principal Sandra Farmer has been shaping young minds for years, but says the last 6 years at Williford has been her greatest challenge.

Many of her students come from economically distressed homes and nearly all of them receive free or reduced lunches.

But the students behave like respectful adults, despite their difficult circumstances.

Parents we talked to who send their children to Williford, say it puts their mind at ease, knowing their child is in good hands.

I worked for Mrs. Farmer for 2 years and can tell you that this woman loves her kids. She is one of the most hands-on principals I know, and she is constantly doing all she can to provide experiences for students at Williford that many other schools might not enjoy. She seeks out new programs and new approaches, and her rapport with her teachers makes implementing new approaches much more likely. Kudos to Mrs. Farmer for a job well done - and getting recognized for it!

This is a very inspiring story about positive happenings at Williford School. A big shout to Mrs.Farmer and the satff! I can truly say that she loves and care about each child. She taught one of my daughters when she was a teacher and she always told her students that they are somebody. Now to see her being a principal and caring for one of my grandchildren is such a blessing. Mrs. Farmer will push her students to be all that they can be. May God contiue to keep and bless everyone at Williford School. This story should be on your web-page or submitted to Nash-Rocky Mount School so that others will be inspired. Keep on doing what God have called you to do!

The story doesn't go on to say what she actually does to be considered "above and beyond."

I like this lady! Just by the way she speaks and her body language, you know she has a good heart!

I am curious about just how she has gone "above and beyond"? I applaud efforts to turn ANY child into a productive, successful, and happy adult.
