Gov. Beverly Perdue wants citizens to know where North Carolina's share of the federal stimulus money will be used.

Perdue visited Kinston this morning to announce where work through the first round of infrastructure projects paid through the federal stimulus package will be done.

The state Department of Transportation says at least $838 million in stimulus money will repair bridges and roads or pay for other transit projects. DOT has said it wants to let construction contracts by June for the first half of its federal money for bridges and highways.

At the Global TransPark in Kinston, money will be spent on a project to improve access to Highway 70.

Perdue said Monday she'll soon unveil a Web site tracking how the state's $6.1 billion share of the stimulus is spent.

The only people going to be stimulated by the Hyw 70 project will be the people writting the justification and the paving contractor. There is no return on investment and no one being held accountable if this project does not bring more jobs to eastern NC.

Native of Columbia, you are welcome. I enjoy visiting Columbia and was pleasantly surprised by how nice and pleasant the downtown area was on my first visit. Not that I had heard anything bad about Columbia, I just mistakenly figured it would look like Robersonville, Bethel, Williamston, Grimesland and many other decaying towns in the area. It was a pleasant surprise to see people keeping their downtown area in such good repair and clean. Columbia also surprised me with the very good little restaurants in town, you guys should support those, I do when I have any excuse to go down that way.

Lavon, I could support a black president, I just can't support a phony "messiah" that is actually a Chicago street hustler that hustled a bunch of naive white people into voting for him. Blacks are a given, they will always vote in lockstep for a liberal or socialist black person. Michael Steele and J.C. Watts are two guys I could support. They are men of character and principal. Most importantly, they are not socialists.

Hey Lavon Nice to here from you. The president that was elected is the president of the liberal people not the conservatives like me . I have morals and values I don't expect a hand out from a government that pay its bills with money they dont have. I expect a government that will cut the spending and use the money wisely . Since that has not happened sine or forefathers died I have no use for government at all.All politicians are liars and they are out for # 1 not you or I! Reality my friend . And just for thought OBama is in this category as well as MC Cain. I am not a sore loser, I just have an opinion like you and others do here.If I had my way I fired all the politicians and start over with people like you and I who have worked hard to put meat and bread on the table and make ends meet when it was next to impossible! Reality my friend again. I wish you the best and peace to you and yours!
