Tourism Brings In Record $18 Billion In State Last Year

The state has hit a new record for the amount of dollars the tourism industry brings in. Visitors spend $18 billion in 2011.

New numbers out today show tourism spending increased in all of the state's 100 counties, compared to 2010. Across the state, the tourism industry employs nearly 200,000 people.

Here in Eastern Carolina, Dare County continues to bring in the most tourism dollars with $877 million, followed by Carteret with $278 million, and Nash with $245 million.
