UPDATE: Troopers Search For Tractor Trailer In Hit &Run With School Bus

Troopers are looking for a tractor trailer driver involved in a hit and run with a school bus in Duplin County Tuesday afternoon. No one was hurt and there was minor damage to the school bus.

Trooper JD Edwards says witnesses first reported a log tuck hit a school bus on Cypress Creek Road outside of Wallace in Duplin County around 4:45 p.m, but after reviewing video recorded by the interior school bus camera, Edwards says the 18-wheeler which sideswiped mirrors with the bus actually had a white trailer and was not a log truck.

Trooper Edwards says the school bus driver drove onto a shoulder to avoid a major collision and the tractor trailer swiped it's side mirror with the bus's side mirror .

Duplin County Schools spokeswoman Dawn Craft tells WITN that two high school students and the driver were on the bus when it was sideswiped. They were checked out by EMS and did not require any treatment.

Troopers say witnesses say the truck stopped for a couple of minutes, but then took off. The Highway Patrol is looking for the tractor trailer driver. Call the Highway Patrol if you have information about the wreck.
