DEPUTIES: Fugitive Arrested After Trying To Run Over Firefighter

A woman is behind bars after lawmen say she tried to run over a firefighter with her vehicle and led law enforcement on a chase.

Jones County deputies were on the scene of a car crash on Ten Mile Fork Road about 4 a.m. when they say 18-year-old Miesha Fenner drove by, attempted to run over a firefighter directing traffic, ran over a traffic cone, blew a stop sign and sped off at speeds in excess of 95 miles per hour.

Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but they say Fenner continued recklessly down Highway 17, Killis Murphy Road and back on Highway 17 through Pollocksville and beyond. Lawmen say Fenner's vehicle almost crashed twice.

Deputies ran the plate and found out the vehicle was stolen. The chase ended on Highway 17, just north of Maysville, a short time later. Fenner, from Suffolk, Virginia, was taken into custody.

She is charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, assault on a firefighter, aggressive driving, failure to heed lights and siren, hit & run, resist, delay and obstruct, failure to obey traffic officer, failure to stop at duly erected stop sign, no operators license and speeding.

Fenner was also served with a fugitive warrant for both larceny and grand larceny. She is currently being housed in the Craven County Detention Facility under a $40,000 Bond and awaiting extradition to Virginia.
