Jones County Water Customers Told To Boil Water

Customers of another county water system in Eastern Carolina are being told the boil water for human consumption.

The Jones County Regional Water System issued the advisory Sunday afternoon because of a potential water main break.

Residents served by the county system should use bottled water or boil tap water for one minute for human consumption. That includes drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice or washing hands.

Area's affected include Highway 58 South , Highway 17 South, Island Creek Road, White Oak River Road, Hunters Creek Road, Rock Creek Road, Mill Creek Road, Goshen road , and the Pollocksville area.

Officials first said there was a potential water main break. On Monday morning, officials said it was in fact an electrical component that malfunctioned, but that was repaired by 3PM on Sunday.

Samples of the water have been collected, but those results will not be available until at least the middle of the week.

Last week, those on the Edgecombe County Water System were also told to boil there water. Officials said Monday morning that advisory remains in place.
